St. Cloud Cathedral downs Hermantown in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Hermantown Hawks on a clutch goal by Austin Swingle.

St. Cloud Cathedral came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Crusaders fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Hermantown's Travis Koepke at 12:55 in the first period. St. Cloud Cathedral knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Chris Benson at 15:20 in the third period.

The Crusaders' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

St. Cloud Cathedral was led by Will Hammer, who finished with three goals and one assist. Mitchell Fritz also scored for St. Cloud Cathedral. More assists for St. Cloud Cathedral came via Austin Poganski and Tommy Hall, who contributed two a piece.

The Hawks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Hermantown puts an average of 7.0 pucks into the net per game. The Hawks forced the Crusaders goalie Joshua Robak to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Hermantown also got a goal from Bo Gronseth as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hermantown were Jake Zeleznikar, Nate Pionk, Neal Pionk, and Lane LeGarde, who each chipped in one.

St. Cloud Cathedral's Robak stopped 40 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Crusaders totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Jace Thomas rejected 25 shots on goal for Hermantown. The Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
