St. Cloud Apollo falls to Fergus Falls after surprising comeback

The St. Cloud Apollo Eagles could not hold down the Fergus Falls Otters, and Otters erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 5-4 win.

Fergus Falls let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Otters took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Sam Rausch at 11:13 in the first period. Fergus Falls went down 4-2 after St. Cloud Apollo's Jared Christen put the puck home short handed at 1:22 in the third period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a goal by Rausch at 12:06 in the third, the Otters got the game-winner from Rausch at 13:30 in the third period.

Fergus Falls additionally got points from Casey Ward, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Fergus Falls also got a goal from Austin Hanson as well. In addition, Fergus Falls received assists from Colton Buseth, who had two and Joe Nathe, Adam Evenson, and Aidan Colling, who contributed one a piece.

The Eagles kept Fergus Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew MacFarlane made 32 saves on 36 shots.

Dallas Haugen also scored for St. Cloud Apollo. More assists for St. Cloud Apollo came via Brandon Bloch and Nick Althaus, who each chipped in one.

The Otters incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. St. Cloud Apollo's Althaus stopped 18 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Eagles incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
