Spring Lake Park erases deficit to stun Irondale, 5-4

The Irondale Knights could not hold down the Spring Lake Park Panthers, and Panthers erased a three-goal deficit en route to a 5-4 win.

Spring Lake Park never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Panthers was down 4-1 after a power play goal by Irondale's Logan Johnson at 11:59 in the second period. Spring Lake Park knotted things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Brandon Richards at 6:40 in the third period. The Panthers scored the game winner at 15:33 in the third period on a goal by Richards.

Austen Long was all over the ice for Spring Lake Park, as he finished with two goals in the win.

The Panthers forced the Knights goalie Esko Aukee to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Spring Lake Park struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 18 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

Spring Lake Park also got points from Deven Sunell, who also registered one goal and two assists. Spring Lake Park also got a goal from Gage Rickenbach as well. Other players who recorded assists for Spring Lake Park were Pete Seinko, who had three and Jacob Nystrom, Jason Roeske, and Marcus Mulvihill, who each chipped in one.

Irondale got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. The Knights could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Irondale was helped by Alex Fredbergq, who tallied one goal. Fredbergq scored 7:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Irondale. Jack Tuomie also scored for Irondale. More assists for Irondale came via Matthew Rog, who had two.

JT Hirschi made 21 saves for the Panthers on 25 shots. Spring Lake Park registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Aukee rejected 26 shots on goal for the Knights.
