Behind a great game by Peter Wood, who had two goals and one assist, the St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad Spartans defeated the Minnehaha Academy Red Hawks, 6-1.

Wood found the back of the net 6:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad and again while 10:16 into the second to make the score 5-0 St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad.

St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad forced Minnehaha Academy goalie Matt Sawyer to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots.

St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad also got a goal from Drew Blackmum as well. In addition, St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad received assists from Jake Westfield, who had two and Mick Sullivan, Cameron Causey, Evan Dahlseide, and Josh Johnson, who contributed one a piece.

The Red Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Spartans to score on any of their three power plays. Minnehaha Academy was held below its usual level of production. The Red Hawks put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

Josh Galkowski also scored for Minnehaha Academy. Other players who recorded assists for Minnehaha Academy were Nick Terlizzi, who had one.

Nick Anderson made 14 saves for St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad on 15 shots. The Spartans incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Sawyer recorded 47 saves for Minnehaha Academy. The Red Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
