Long lifts Sauk Rapids-Rice over Pine City/Rush City, 16-3

Tyler Long was all over the ice for the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm, as he tallied six goals in Sauk Rapids-Rice's 16-3 win over the Pine City/Rush City Dragons.

Long notched his first tally 7:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:19 into the first, at 6:04 into the second, at 12:57 into the second, at 13:36 into the second, and at 16:35 into the second.

Pine City/Rush City fell victim to a deadly the Storm power play, which ripped the Dragons for four goals.

Sauk Rapids-Rice forced Pine City/Rush City goalie Tony Pitzen to work between the pipes, taking 60 shots. The Storm found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Sauk Rapids-Rice has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Sauk Rapids-Rice also got points from Mathew Meyer, who also grabbed three goals and three assists, Brandon Duray, who also finished with two goals and three assists, and Ryan Rutar, who also had two goals and one assist. Sauk Rapids-Rice also had goals scored by Corbin Heder, who had one and Blake Chapa, who had two. More assists for Sauk Rapids-Rice came via Luke Althaus, who had three, Travis Kothenbeutel, who had six, and Colby Kaschmitter, Wyatt Orth, Aaron Peckskamp, and James Geisler, who each chipped in one.

The Dragons were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16.0 minutes per game Pine City/Rush City had been spending in the box. The Dragons found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 12 shots against the Storm's defense.

Pine City/Rush City was helped by Dewy Carr, who tallied one goal. Carr scored 3:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pine City/Rush City. Casey Lucht provided the assist. Pine City/Rush City additionally got points from Colton Brant, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Lucht, who also finished with one goal and one assist.

Justin Thorson rejected nine shots on goal for Sauk Rapids-Rice. The Storm incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Dragons' Pitzen stopped 44 shots out of the 60 that he faced. Pine City/Rush City registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
