Forest Lake takes care of St. Michael-Albertville early, wins 7-2

The St. Michael-Albertville Knights fell behind early, and the Forest Lake Rangers kept piling on the points on the way to a 7-2 victory.

Kyle Parker had two goals and two assists to lead Forest Lake. Parker scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:40 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Forest Lake. The Rangers had taken the advantage when St. Michael-Albertville's Connor Spetz got sent off for holding. Ryan Herbert provided the assist. Parker's next tally on the power play made the score 4-0 Forest Lake with 5:20 left in the first period. Forest Lake earned a power play opportunity when Tyler Hayes was put in the box for interference. Trevor Thompson assisted on the tally.

The Knights' Matt Borgen could not handle what the Rangers threw at him, as Forest Lake netted its goals off of seven.

The Rangers cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on four chances.

Forest Lake additionally got points from Clayton Dahly, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Thompson, who also had one goal and one assist, and Herbert, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Forest Lake also got a goal from Landon Pikala as well. Other players who recorded assists for Forest Lake were Taylor Marx and John Suess, who each chipped in one.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

In addition, St. Michael-Albertville received assists from Zac Borgen, who had one.

Forest Lake ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. St. Michael-Albertville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
