Rochester Lourdes outlasts St. Cloud Cathedral, 6-4

The game between the Rochester Lourdes Eagles and the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Rochester Lourdes emerged with a 6-4 win.

The Eagles gained the winning advantage on a goal by Alex Funk 8:51 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

With three goals and two assists between them, Funk and Jason Samuelson teamed up to power Rochester Lourdes' offense. Funk tallied two goals and Samuelson also added one goal and two assists.

The Eagles were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 16 penalty minutes.

Rochester Lourdes additionally got points from Samuelson, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Rochester Lourdes also had goals scored by Cody Cossette, who had one and Ben Weir, who had two. More assists for Rochester Lourdes came via Montana Streit, Dakota Streit, Griffen Buck, and Griffen Slightham, who contributed one a piece.

St. Cloud Cathedral was helped by William Hammer, who registered two goals. Hammer scored the first of his two goals at 13:09 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Cloud Cathedral. Austin Swingle assisted on the tally. Hammer's next tally made the score 3-3 with 13:20 left in the third period. Austin Poganski provided the assist. St. Cloud Cathedral also got points from Swingle, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Tommy Hall also scored for St. Cloud Cathedral. In addition, St. Cloud Cathedral received assists from Mitchell Fritz, who had one.

Andrew Ellingson made 22 saves for Rochester Lourdes on 26 shots. The Eagles registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Joshua Robak rejected 22 shots on goal for the Crusaders. St. Cloud Cathedral totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play.
