Mikel lifts Marshall over Redwood Valley, 4-1

Behind a great game by Beau Mikel, who had two goals, the Marshall Tigers defeated the Redwood Valley Cardinals, 4-1.

Mikel scored at 6:06 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Marshall and again while 8:24 into the third to make the score 3-1 Marshall.

Redwood Valley was unable to stop Marshall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Tigers eventually piled up 47 shots on goal.

Marshall additionally got points from Quinn Horvath, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Corey Clark also scored for Marshall. More assists for Marshall came via Brent Haukom and Levi Hedman, who each chipped in one.

The Cardinals managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Redwood Valley ended up below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game. The Cardinals were held below their usual level of production. Redwood Valley puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

The Cardinals were led by Niko Berge, who scored the team's only goal. Berge scored 2:41 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Redwood Valley. Logan Sandgren assisted on the tally.

Masion Campion recorded 16 saves for Marshall. The Tigers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Redwood Valley's Jordan Houle stopped 43 shots out of the 47 that he faced. The Cardinals registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
