Poganski's goals lift St. Cloud Cathedral to 3-1 victory over Providence AcademyPlymouth Ice Center Sat, Nov 24, 2012 The St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders relied on the scoring touch of Austin Poganski, who netted two goals, to beat the Providence Academy Lions, 3-1. Poganski found the back of the net 14:38 into the second period to make the score 1-0 St. Cloud Cathedral and again while 4:14 into the third to make the score 3-1 St. Cloud Cathedral.St. Cloud Cathedral's penalty kill excelled, as the Crusaders gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. St. Cloud Cathedral kept Providence Academy's goalie busy throughout the game, and Danny Noble made 30 saves on 33 shots. The Crusaders' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as St. Cloud Cathedral finished with 14 penalty minutes. Mitchell Fritz also scored for St. Cloud Cathedral. Other players who recorded assists for St. Cloud Cathedral were Peter Spethmann and William Hammer, who each chipped in one. The Lions did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 13 saves. Providence Academy was led by Ryan Tapani, who scored the team's only goal. Tapani scored on the power play 1:26 into the third period to make the score 2-1 St. Cloud Cathedral. An interference penalty on Fritz had put the Lions on the power play. Ryan Muurphy picked up the assist. Joshua Robak made 13 saves for the Crusaders on 14 shots. St. Cloud Cathedral registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Providence Academy incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
