Superior WI blows out Proctor, 7-0

The Superior WI Spartans had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-0 win over the Proctor Rails.

Superior WI got the win with help from a great game by Jesse Polson, who had one goal and two assists. Polson scored 10:35 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Superior WI.

The Spartans kept Proctor's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jacob Mercier made 45 saves on 52 shots. Superior WI did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Superior WI additionally got points from Aaron Wakefield-Zubia, who also registered one goal and two assists. Superior WI also had goals scored by Tyler Nystrom, who had two and Mitch Anderson, Beau Reder, and Dane Sislo, who scored one goal each. More assists for Superior WI came via Grant Hanson, who had one and Aaron Miller, who had three.

The Rails were held below their usual level of production. Proctor puts an average of 2.7 pucks into the net per game. The Spartans' defense shut down the Rails' forwards for much of the game, and Proctor got off only 12 shots during the contest.

Superior WI's Zach Reiswig stopped 12 shots out of the 12 that he faced. The Spartans registered two goals on four power play opportunities. The Rails incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
