Princeton beats St. Cloud Cathedral 4-3 after comeback scarePrinceton Ice Arena Tue, Dec 11, 2012 The St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Princeton Tigers held on for a 4-3 victory. Princeton made the score 4-2 on a goal by Daniel Voce at 15:16 in the second period, and St. Cloud Cathedral got as close as 4-3 when Austin Swingle scored 16:31 into the third period. Dan Muench and Jordan Forschen provided the spark for the Tigers, combining for three goals and two assists. Muench racked up two goals and Forschen also added one goal and two assists. Princeton could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Tigers average 6.2 goals per game. Princeton forced the Crusaders goalie Connor Amundson to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The Tigers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 20 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. Princeton additionally got points from Forschen, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Princeton were Jake Green, who had two and Collin Buness and Justin Sjoquist, who contributed one a piece. St. Cloud Cathedral could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 48 minutes in penalties during the game. The Crusaders were helped by Austin Poganski, who registered two goals. Poganski scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:40 into the first period to make the score 1-1. An interference penalty on Chase Lindenfelser had put St. Cloud Cathedral on the power play. Swingle assisted on the tally. Poganski's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 11:35 left in the second period. The Crusaders had gained a power play chance when Lindenfelser was whistled for elbowing. St. Cloud Cathedral also got points from Swingle, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for St. Cloud Cathedral came via Mitchell Fritz, who had one. Max Mattson made 18 saves for Princeton on 21 shots. The Tigers registered four goals on 11 power play opportunities. Amundson rejected 27 shots on goal for St. Cloud Cathedral.
