Christen's big game bests Prairie Centre in 9-2 St. Cloud Apollo win

Jared Christen had four goals and one assist to lead the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles to a 9-2 victory over the Prairie Centre North Stars.

Christen got on the scoresheet 5:17 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:39 into the second, at 4:20 into the third, and at 16:00 into the third.

Prairie Centre's power play was ineffective against St. Cloud Apollo's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Eagles kept the North Stars' goalie busy throughout the game, and Clay Deters made 42 saves on 51 shots. St. Cloud Apollo bested its season scoring average. This season, the Eagles average 6.3 goals per contest.

St. Cloud Apollo also got points from Jason Omann, who also racked up two goals and four assists to lead the team in points and Paul Kenney, who also finished with one goal and four assists. St. Cloud Apollo also got a goal from Dallas Haugen as well. In addition, St. Cloud Apollo received assists from Jordan Keller, who had four and Jacob Kemp and Brandon Bloch, who contributed one a piece.

Prairie Centre's offense was handcuffed by St. Cloud Apollo's defensive play, and the North Stars managed only nine shots on goal during the game.

Prairie Centre was helped by Sam Ecker, who registered one goal. Ecker scored 11:49 into the second period to make the score 4-2 St. Cloud Apollo. Adam Froseth assisted on the tally. Zack Pierskalla also scored for Prairie Centre.

Nick Althaus recorded seven saves for the Eagles. St. Cloud Apollo totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-2 on the power play. The North Stars incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
