Princeton uses fast start to beat Pine City/Rush City, 11-0

The Princeton Tigers opened up a six-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to an 11-0 over the Pine City/Rush City Dragons.

Princeton got the win with help from a great game by Justin Sjoquist, who had one goal and four assists. Sjoquist scored 7:26 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Princeton. Daniel Voce assisted on the tally.

The Tigers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Pine City/Rush City power plays. Princeton featured an improved defense during the game. The Tigers average 2.7 goals allowed per game. Princeton forced Pine City/Rush City goalie Tony Pitzen to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. The Tigers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Princeton has scored at the pace of 6.3 goals per game during the current campaign. The Tigers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Princeton also got points from Jake Green, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Voce, who also finished with one goal and four assists, and Cam Paulson, who also registered two goals and one assist. Princeton also had goals scored by Chase Lindenfelser, who had two and Ryan Bolduc, A.J. Wesloh, and Collin Buness, who each put in one. More assists for Princeton came via Tyler Leverty and Billy Oakes, who contributed one a piece and Dan Muench and Jordan Forschen, who each chipped in two.

The Dragons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Pine City/Rush City could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Dragons put an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. Pine City/Rush City's offense was handcuffed by Princeton's defensive play, and the Dragons managed only 12 shots on goal during the game.

Robert Zimmer made three saves before being replaced by Max Mattson, who took the win and made nine saves. The Tigers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Pine City/Rush City's Pitzen stopped 36 shots out of the 47 that he faced. The Dragons incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
