Shakopee holds on for 5-3 win against Owatonna

The Owatonna Huskies tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Shakopee Sabers held on for a 5-3 victory.

A goal by Ben Jasper put Shakopee up 5-1 in the third period, but Owatonna pulled to within two on Soren Colstrup's tally 16:47 into the third period.

Preston Husom was all over the ice for the Sabers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Husom scored the first of his two goals at 1:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Shakopee. Husom's next tally made the score 3-1 Shakopee with 3:51 left in the second period. Jasper assisted on the tally.

Shakopee additionally got points from Sebastian Vacca, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Jasper, who also registered two goals and one assist.

The Huskies were helped by Aaron Kirsch, who had one goal and one assist. Kirsch scored 5:19 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brandon Wencl picked up the assist. Owatonna also got points from Colstrup, who also had one goal and one assist. Owatonna also got a goal from Matt Ratzloff as well.

Sean Surbaugh recorded 26 saves for Shakopee. The Sabers totaled 24 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Owatonna's Luke Ebeling stopped 18 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Huskies incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
