Flemmer's big game bests St.Louis Park in 4-1 Orono win

The Orono Spartans' Jake Flemmer had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 4-1 win over the St.Louis Park Orioles.

Flemmer got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 11:27 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Orono. Orono earned a power play opportunity when NICK OWENS was put in the box for hooking. Gavin Payne provided the assist. Flemmer dished an assist on Sam Challgren's goal that made the score 3-1 Orono at 7:36 into the third period. He added another helper on Challgren's goal that made the score 4-1 Orono at 15:23 into the third period.

The Spartans' offense rang up 45 shots on St.Louis Park's net. Orono could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. The Spartans had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances.

Orono also got points from Challgren, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Orono also got a goal from Joey Luedtke as well. More assists for Orono came via Danny Willson and Chase Lee, who each chipped in one.

The Orioles forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and two majors for 42 minutes in penalty time. St.Louis Park surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Orioles put 19 shots on net during the contest, more than the 5.5 they average per game.

St.Louis Park was led by CURT GREENBUSH, who scored the team's only goal. GREENBUSH scored 5:49 into the second period to make the score 1-1.

Ryan Breon made 18 saves for Orono on 19 shots. RYAN FROOM rejected 41 shots on goal for the Orioles. St.Louis Park registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
