Orono shrugs off penalties, upends Providence Academy, 4-0

The Providence Academy Lions failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Orono Spartans shook off a number of penalties to win, 4-0.

Orono was sparked by Silas Cleveland, who racked up one goal. Cleveland scored 5:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Orono. Alex Gross provided the assist.

The Spartans put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Providence Academy to score on any of its eight power plays. Orono's defense was surprisingly good. The Spartans gives up 2.6 goals on average per game. Orono kept the Lions' goalie busy throughout the game, and Danny Noble made 30 saves on 34 shots. The Spartans could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Orono also got points from Joey Luedtke, who also had one goal and one assist. Orono also got a goal from Jake Flemmer as well. In addition, Orono received assists from Sam Challgren, who had one and Chase Lee, who had three.

Providence Academy's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Orono power plays. The Lions' offense operated below they season average. Providence Academy puts an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game.

Orono's Ryan Breon stopped 15 shots out of the 15 that he faced. The Lions incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
