Orono takes care of Hutchinson early, wins 6-0Orono Ice Arena Thu, Jan 03, 2013 A four-goal first period deficit cost the Hutchinson Tigers, which could not recover and fell to the Orono Spartans, 6-0. Orono got the win with help from a great game by Sam Challgren, who had one goal and two assists. Challgren scored 2:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Orono. Jake Flemmer provided the assist. The Spartans excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Orono featured an improved defense during the game. The Spartans allow 2.5 goals per game. Orono forced Hutchinson goalie Kellyn Buss to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The Spartans' goal total was higher than their season average. Orono has scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Orono also got points from Will LeNeave, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Orono included Gavin Payne, who had two and Danny Willson and Wil Horoshak, who each put in one. In addition, Orono received assists from Joey Luedtke, who had two and Ellis Noerenberg, Zach Grochowski, Derek Limesand, and Nick Schroeder, who each chipped in one. The Tigers' offense operated below they season average. Hutchinson averages 2.6 goals per game. The Tigers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game. Ryan Breon rejected 24 shots on goal for the Spartans. Orono incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Hutchinson's Buss stopped 32 shots out of the 38 that he faced.
