Greenway holds on for 5-3 win against North Shore

The Greenway Raiders survived a determined comeback attempt by North Shore on the way to a 5-3 win.

Greenway made the score 5-2 on a goal by Darin Estey at 5:12 in the third period, and North Shore got as close as 5-3 when Luke Small scored 6:12 into the third period.

The Raiders got the win behind a great game by Alex Troumbly, who had two goals and one assist. Troumbly scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Greenway. Greenway had gotten the advantage when North Shore's Mills Johnson was sent off for too many men. Zach Childs picked up the assist. Troumbly's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Greenway with 16:35 left in the third period. Bazil Zuehlke provided the assist.

The Raiders were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and two majors for 56 minutes in penalty time. Greenway had been averaging 14.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Raiders kept North Shore's goalie busy throughout the game, and Zach Duresky made 28 saves on 33 shots.

Greenway additionally got points from Zuehlke, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Estey, who also had one goal and one assist. Justin Guyer also scored for Greenway. More assists for Greenway came via Jayden Gangl, who had three and Andrew Stish and Austin Maasch, who each chipped in one.

North Shore forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. North Shore surpassed its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game. North Shore had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances.

North Shore also got a goal from Tyler Schramm as well. Other players who recorded assists for North Shore were Mike Nordean and Kory Buckman, who contributed one a piece.

Sam LaDoux rejected 21 shots on goal for Greenway. The Raiders registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
