North Shore wins tough contest against Eveleth-Gilbert, 4-2Rukavina Thu, Jan 10, 2013 North Shore gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Tyler Schramm secured the win for North Shore with a goal in the third period. Austyn Wasko had two goals to lead North Shore to victory. Wasko's tallies came at 2:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North Shore and 16:00 into the third to make the score 4-2 North Shore. Eveleth-Gilbert was unable to stop North Shore from sending pucks towards the net, and North Shore eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Mills Johnson also scored for North Shore. More assists for North Shore came via Luke Small, who had two and Brock LeBlanc and Ryan Rasmussen, who contributed one a piece. The Golden Bears were helped by Luke Rozinka, who registered one goal. Rozinka scored 2:43 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Mitchell Huffman provided the assist. Eveleth-Gilbert also got points from Huffman, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Eveleth-Gilbert were Nick Moe, who had one. Zach Duresky made 26 saves for North Shore on 28 shots. North Shore avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of two power plays. Chad Hietela recorded 33 saves for Eveleth-Gilbert. The Golden Bears incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities.
