New Ulm uses early goal to top Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter, 2-0

The New Ulm Eagles took the lead against the Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter Bulldogs in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-0 victory.

New Ulm took over the lead for good with a goal by Brandon Helget at 8:26 in the first period. Lucas Heiderscheidt assisted on the tally.

Brach Kraus frustrated Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter's offense all game, and stopped 29 shots en route to a shutout. The solid play of Kraus will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 4.32.

The Eagles were led by Helget, who had one goal.

New Ulm's offense rang up 32 shots on the Bulldogs' net.

Judd Davis also scored for New Ulm. Other players who recorded assists for New Ulm were Mitch Neid, who had one.

Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Bulldogs average 2.9 goals per game. Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter managed to stay out of the box for the most part, registering a minimal one major for five minutes in penalty time.

The Eagles avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of one power plays. Chris Amsden made 30 saves for the Bulldogs on 32 shots. Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
