Chanhassen beats New Ulm 3-2 after comeback scareNew Ulm Civic Center Tue, Jan 22, 2013 The New Ulm Eagles tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Chanhassen Storm held on for a 3-2 victory. Chanhassen made the score 3-1 on a goal by Reid Meyer at 2:33 in the second period, and New Ulm got as close as 3-2 when Judd Davis scored 7:57 into the third period. Meyer was all over the ice for the Storm, as he racked up two goals in the win. Chanhassen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three New Ulm power plays. Tanner Stolt also scored for Chanhassen. Other players who recorded assists for Chanhassen were Michael Gmiterko, Nicholas Patrin, Collin Seal, Bryson Burkholder, and Logan Wilkinson, who each chipped in one. The Eagles excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. New Ulm was helped by Brandon Helget, who grabbed one goal. Helget scored 15:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Chanhassen. Brach Kraus provided the assist. More assists for New Ulm came via Lucas Heiderscheidt, Alex Stark, and Mitch Neid, who contributed one a piece. Harlin Paradise rejected 26 shots on goal for the Storm. Chanhassen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kraus recorded 27 saves for the Eagles. New Ulm incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
