St. Cloud Cathedral beats Mound-Westonka 5-2 as Fritz gets hat trickThaler Hockey Arena Sat, Jan 19, 2013 The Mound-Westonka Whitehawks could not stop the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders' Mitchell Fritz, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win. Fritz got on the scoresheet 11:22 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:34 into the second and at 1:28 into the third.St. Cloud Cathedral kept Mound-Westonka's goalie busy throughout the game, and Andy Seats made 33 saves on 38 shots. The Crusaders got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. St. Cloud Cathedral also got a goal from Austin Poganski as well. In addition, St. Cloud Cathedral received assists from David Spethmann, who had three, Austin Swingle and Phil Rugemer, who contributed one a piece, and Dan Bailey and Will Hammer, who each chipped in two. With 30 shots on target during the contest, the Whitehawks exceeded the 1.2 shot they average per game this year. Mound-Westonka was led by Tommy Ewing, who registered one goal. Ewing scored 38 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Cloud Cathedral. Hunter Smith picked up the assist. Ben O Barsky also scored for Mound-Westonka. More assists for Mound-Westonka came via Jack Sterne and Jack Brandstetter, who contributed one a piece. Joshua Robak made 28 saves for St. Cloud Cathedral on 30 shots. The Crusaders incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. The Whitehawks finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.
