Mound-Westonka beats Waconia 8-4 as Brandstetter gets hat trick

Jack Brandstetter netted a hat trick to lead the Mound-Westonka Whitehawks over the Waconia Wildcats, 8-4.

Brandstetter got on the scoresheet 14:53 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:11 into the second and at 7:45 into the third.

Mound-Westonka surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Whitehawks average 3.6 goals per contest. Mound-Westonka cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances. The 43 shots that the Whitehawks put on net surpassed Mound-Westonka's average of 0.8 shots per game this season.

Mound-Westonka also got points from Tommy Ewing, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Hunter Smith, who also grabbed one goal and three assists, and Charlie Curti, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Mound-Westonka also got a goal from Tanner Palm as well. In addition, Mound-Westonka received assists from Nick Tschida, Ben O Barsky, and Jeremy Schulz, who each chipped in one.

Waconia was helped by Justin Reinke, who registered one goal. Reinke scored 9:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Waconia. Blaine Wilsey provided the assist. Waconia additionally got points from Tanner Riebel, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Wilsey, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ryan Mattson also scored for Waconia. Other players who recorded assists for Waconia were Ben Kullman and Jeff Balow, who contributed one a piece.

Andy Seats made 22 saves for the Whitehawks on 26 shots. Mound-Westonka ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Nathan Kovach recorded 35 saves for the Wildcats. Waconia incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
