Picht nets hat trick, leads Morris/Benson Area to 4-2 win over LuvernePSI Internal Staff Sat, Jan 26, 2013 Tanner Picht lifted the Morris/Benson Area Storm to a 4-2 victory with a hat trick against the Luverne Cardinals. Picht got on the scoresheet 12:06 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:31 into the second and at 16:44 into the third.Morris/Benson Area stifled Luverne's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Storm could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Morris/Benson Area puts an average of 6.2 pucks into the net per game. Brody Gimberlin also scored for Morris/Benson Area. In addition, Morris/Benson Area received assists from Andrew Rentz, who had one and Taner Gimberlin, Mac Beyer, and Jordan Staples, who contributed two a piece. The Cardinals excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Luverne did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Cardinals average 6.1 goals per game. Luverne gave up more goals than its normal season average. The Cardinals are averaging 1.6 goal against for the season. Luverne was helped by Jonny Solma, who registered one goal. Solma scored 15:34 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Travis Frakes provided the assist. Luverne also got a goal from Logan Norman as well. More assists for Luverne came via Chaz Smedsrud, Toby Sengvongxay, and Skyler Wenninger, who each chipped in one. Kyle Kennedy rejected 19 shots on goal for the Storm. Morris/Benson Area incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kendall Meyer made 21 saves for the Cardinals on 25 shots. Luverne totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
