Sartell-St.Stephen squeaks by Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake, 4-3Monticello Arena Fri, Nov 30, 2012 The Sartell-St.Stephen Sabres gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake Moose. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Aaron Randall secured the win for Sartell-St.Stephen with a goal in the third period. Randall was all over the ice for the Sabres, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Sartell-St.Stephen's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake's power play unit. Matthew Ringhand also scored for Sartell-St.Stephen. In addition, Sartell-St.Stephen received assists from Kyle Erickson, Matthew Bakken, Andrew Lindmeier, Spencer Zwiener, Cullen Chisholm, and Tyler Minkel, who each chipped in one. The Moose's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Sartell-St.Stephen power plays. Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake was helped by Mark Rieger-Borer, who finished with two goals and one assist. Rieger-Borer scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 37 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Robbie Stromme provided the assist. Rieger-Borer's next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake with 17:34 left in the second period. The Moose had gotten the advantage when the Sabres' Isaac Linstrom was sent off for interference. Sam Johnson picked up the assist. Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake also got points from Stromme, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake were Spencer Nelson, who had one. Carter Kasianov made 21 saves for Sartell-St.Stephen on 24 shots. The Sabres incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Darien Jones recorded 18 saves for Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake. The Moose incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
