Princeton beats Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake 3-1 after comeback scare

The Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake Moose tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Princeton Tigers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

Princeton made the score 3-0 on a goal by Dan Muench at 8:37 in the third period, and Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake got as close as 3-1 when Colton Jones scored 9:33 into the third period.

The Tigers were led by Chase Lindenfelser, who registered one goal. Lindenfelser scored on the power play 6:13 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Princeton. Princeton had taken the advantage when the Moose's Reece Carstens got sent off for interference. Tyler Leverty provided the assist.

The Tigers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Princeton puts an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game.

Jake Green also scored for Princeton. In addition, Princeton received assists from Daniel Voce, A.J. Wesloh, Jordan Forschen, and Joey Stenslie, who contributed one a piece.

Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

More assists for Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake came via Birk Olson, who had one.

The Tigers' Max Mattson stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Princeton totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. Austin LeBrun made 25 saves for the Moose on 28 shots. Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
