Funk's big game bests Marshall School Duluth in 7-0 Rochester Lourdes win

Behind a great game by Alex Funk, who had four goals and one assist, the Rochester Lourdes Eagles defeated the Marshall School Duluth Hilltoppers, 7-0.

Funk's first goal came 7:16 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:41 into the second, at 16:00 into the second, and at 30 seconds into the third.

Rochester Lourdes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Eagles forced Marshall School Duluth goalie Caden Flaherty to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Rochester Lourdes' goal total was higher than its season average. The Eagles have scored at the pace of 4.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Rochester Lourdes also got points from Jason Samuelson, who also racked up two goals and three assists. Ben Weir also scored for Rochester Lourdes. In addition, Rochester Lourdes received assists from Karl Krecke, who had two and Nathan Roth and Griffen Slightham, who each chipped in one.

The Hilltoppers were held below their usual level of production. Marshall School Duluth averages 2.8 goals per game. Penalties took their toll on the Hilltoppers, as their penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Andrew Ellingson recorded 21 saves for Rochester Lourdes. The Eagles incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Marshall School Duluth's Flaherty stopped 24 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Hilltoppers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
