Marshall downs Worthington, 3-0Marshall Amateur Hockey Assoc. Tue, Jan 08, 2013 Austin Leek racked up one point to lead the Marshall Tigers to a 3-0 victory over the Worthington Trojans. Marshall stifled Worthington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Tigers featured an improved defense during the game. Marshall averages 2.9 goals allowed per game. The Tigers' offense rang up 40 shots on the Trojans' net. Marshall also got points from Leo Zerr, who also had one goal and one assist. Quinn Horvath also scored for Marshall. Other players who recorded assists for Marshall were Corey Clark, who had two and Nate Hoeft and Adam McVey, who each chipped in one. Worthington could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Trojans put an average of 2.1 pucks into the net per game. Adam Cavazos recorded 17 saves for Marshall. The Tigers totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Worthington's Ryan Scholtes stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Trojans incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
