Marshall falls to Willmar in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Willmar Cardinals' Hunter Schneider scored 2:38 into overtime to beat the Marshall Tigers, 3-2 (OT).

Willmar was led by Schneider, who had one goal and one assist.

The Cardinals could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Willmar averages 5.1 goals per game.

Zech Streed also scored for Willmar. Other players who recorded assists for Willmar were Trey Tollefson and Preston Peterson, who each chipped in one.

Marshall was held below its usual level of production. The Tigers put an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game.

Marshall was helped by Levi Hedman, who grabbed one goal. Hedman scored on the power play 9:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Marshall. The Tigers had gotten the advantage when the Cardinals' Austin Smith was sent off for too many men. Alex Buysse assisted on the tally. Marshall also got a goal from Quinn Horvath as well. In addition, Marshall received assists from Andrew Bell, who had one.

Willmar's Joey Benson stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. The Cardinals incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Adam Cavazos rejected 17 shots on goal for Marshall. The Tigers totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
