New Ulm holds on for 4-2 win against MarshallMarshall Amateur Hockey Assoc. Thu, Dec 06, 2012 The New Ulm Eagles survived a determined comeback attempt by the Marshall Tigers on the way to a 4-2 win. New Ulm took a 4-0 lead during the third period, only to have Marshall storm back on a Leo Zerr goal 16:51 into the third period to pull to two goals down. The Eagles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Tigers to score on any of their four power plays. New Ulm kept Marshall's goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Cavazos made 31 saves on 35 shots. The Eagles were led by Blake Neumann, who registered one goal and one assist. Neumann scored 4:02 into the third period to make the score 3-0 New Ulm. New Ulm also got a goal from Brandon Helget as well. Other players who recorded assists for New Ulm were Judd Davis, who had one. The Tigers' offense operated below they season average. Marshall puts an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game. Marshall additionally got points from Taylor Rasmussen, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Marshall received assists from Blaine Moran and Brent Haukom, who contributed one a piece. Brach Kraus rejected 23 shots on goal for New Ulm. The Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Tigers incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
