Behind a great game by Christian Klemme, who had two goals and one assist, the Mankato West Scarlets defeated the Albert Lea Tigers, 4-1.

Klemme found the back of the net 1:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mankato West and again while 2:18 into the first to make the score 2-0 Mankato West.

Mankato West kept Albert Lea's goalie busy throughout the game, and Garret Matz made 33 saves on 37 shots.

Mankato West also got a goal from Derek Frentz as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mankato West were Cole Filler, who had two and Nick Campbell and Max Mettler, who contributed one a piece.

The Tigers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Albert Lea was led by Alex Claassen, who scored the team's only goal. Claassen scored on the power play 13:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mankato West. The Tigers earned a power play opportunity when Campbell was put in the box for interference. Lucas Peterson assisted on the tally.

Conor Wollenzien made 23 saves for the Scarlets on 24 shots. Mankato West incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Albert Lea incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
