Norman's big game bests Windom Area in 6-0 Luverne winPSI Internal Staff Tue, Dec 18, 2012 Logan Norman had two goals and one assist to lead the Luverne Cardinals to a 6-0 victory over the Windom Area Eagles. Norman found the back of the net 8:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Luverne and again while 11:54 into the first to make the score 2-0 Luverne.Luverne was boosted by Kendall Meyer, who turned in a shutout with 29 saves. Meyer certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.81 entering the contest. The Cardinals stifled Windom Area's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Luverne forced the Eagles goalie Ben Stubbe to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Luverne additionally got points from Chaz Smedsrud, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jonny Solma, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Gunnar Olson, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Cole Desplinter also scored for Luverne. Other players who recorded assists for Luverne were Jackson Frankenhoff, Austin Maxwell, Toby Sengvongxay, and Skyler Wenninger, who contributed one a piece. Windom Area's offense operated below it season average. The Eagles put an average of 5.6 pucks into the net per game. The Cardinals totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Windom Area's Stubbe stopped 32 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Eagles incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
