Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato's comeback falls short, New Ulm wins 4-2

The Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato Dragons almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the New Ulm Eagles managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end.

New Ulm led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Eagles' Blake Neumann's scored at 3:38 in the third period to put New Ulm up 3-0.

Judd Davis had a great game for the Eagles, netting two goals. Davis scored on the power play at 9:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Ulm and again while 9:46 into the third to make the score 4-2 New Ulm.

New Ulm pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 19 penalty minutes.

The Eagles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato to score on any of its seven power plays. New Ulm's offense rang up 35 shots on the Dragons' net.

New Ulm also got a goal from Jon Kopacek as well. Other players who recorded assists for New Ulm were Wyatt Peterson, who had two and Lucas Heiderscheidt and Alex Stark, who contributed one a piece.

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato forced the Eagles goalie Brach Kraus to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. The Dragons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato was helped by Aaron Haataja, who grabbed one goal. Haataja scored 8:25 into the third period to make the score 3-2 New Ulm. Reid Nelson also scored for Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato. In addition, Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato received assists from Eddie Estrada, who had one.

Kraus recorded 46 saves for New Ulm. The Eagles registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Braeden Wahl rejected 31 shots on goal for the Dragons.
