Hutchinson falls to Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato Dragons pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Hutchinson Tigers on a clutch goal by Aaron Haataja.

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Dragons fell behind 3-1 after a power play goal by Hutchinson's Matthew Cowger at 15:33 in the second period. Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Reid Nelson at 3:25 in the third period.

The Dragons were led by Haataja, who racked up one goal. Haataja scored 4:26 into overtime to make the score 4-3 Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato. Grant Ryynanen picked up the assist.

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 12.0 minutes per game the Dragons had been spending in the box. Penalties took their toll on Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato additionally got points from Ryynanen, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mike Spreiter also scored for Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato. In addition, Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato received assists from Chad Johnson, Ryan Tormanen, and Ben Haugo, who contributed one a piece.

The Tigers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato power plays. Hutchinson kept the Dragons' goalie busy throughout the game, and Braeden Wahl made 39 saves on 42 shots.

Hutchinson also got points from Cody Nielson, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Hutchinson also got a goal from Logan Goosen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hutchinson were Tory Adams, who had two.

Kellyn Buss made 26 saves for the Tigers on 30 shots. Hutchinson incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
