Holy Family Catholic uses fast start to beat Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato, 9-0

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato Dragons, which could not recover and fell to the Holy Family Catholic Fire, 9-0.

Garret Riebling had two goals and three assists to lead Holy Family Catholic. Riebling scored the first of his two goals at 50 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Holy Family Catholic. Joey Marooney picked up the assist. Riebling's next tally made the score 6-0 Holy Family Catholic with 19:46 left in the third period. Dylan Woolf assisted on the tally.

The Fire's defensive effort looked to be improved. Holy Family Catholic averages 2.5 goals allowed per game. The Fire surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Holy Family Catholic averages 4.7 goals per contest. The Fire's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. By firing 68 shots on goal, Holy Family Catholic exceeded the 2.7 shots it averages per game this year.

Holy Family Catholic also got points from Woolf, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, Shane Gersich, who also had one goal and three assists, Marooney, who also finished with one goal and three assists, and Will Garin, who also registered one goal and one assist. Holy Family Catholic also got a goal from Sam Stenson as well. In addition, Holy Family Catholic received assists from Ryan Swanson, who had two and Matt Runyon and Jonh Peterson, who contributed one a piece.

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Dragons average 2.8 goals per game. Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere seven shots against the Fire's defense.

Dayton Rassmussen recorded seven saves for Holy Family Catholic. The Fire incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Dragons' Braeden Wahl stopped 59 shots out of the 68 that he faced. Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
