Irondale penalty kill dominates in 2-0 defeat of St. Paul Johnson

The St. Paul Johnson Governors failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Irondale Knights shook off a number of penalties to win, 2-0.

Irondale was sparked by Alex Fredbergq, who registered one goal. Fredbergq scored 16:54 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Irondale.

The Knights stifled St. Paul Johnson's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Irondale's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Knights allow 2.4 goals per game. Irondale struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 14 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays. The defensemen of the Knights were also effective in the Governors' zone, and came away with two goals.

Matthew Rog also scored for Irondale.

St. Paul Johnson excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Esko Aukee recorded 16 saves for Irondale. The Governors' Samuel Moberg stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. St. Paul Johnson incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
