Hutchinson holds on for 3-2 win against Sauk Rapids-Rice

The Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Hutchinson Tigers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

A goal by Tory Adams put Hutchinson up 3-1 in the third period, but Sauk Rapids-Rice pulled to within one on Travis Kothenbeutel's tally 15:24 into the third period.

The Storm's power play was ineffective against the Tigers' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Hutchinson's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Sauk Rapids-Rice power plays.

Hutchinson additionally got points from Cody Nielson, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Logan Goosen also scored for Hutchinson. More assists for Hutchinson came via Kellyn Buss, Austin Mandelkow, and Matthew Cowger, who each chipped in one.

Sauk Rapids-Rice kept the Tigers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Buss made 29 saves on 31 shots.

Sauk Rapids-Rice also got a goal from Colby Kaschmitter as well. Other players who recorded assists for Sauk Rapids-Rice were Mathew Meyer, who had one.

Hutchinson incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Justin Thorson made 25 saves for the Storm on 28 shots. Sauk Rapids-Rice incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
