Hopkins beats Mound-Westonka 4-0 as Kuehmichel gains shutout

Josh Kuehmichel made 30 saves to complete the shutout and led the Hopkins Royals to a 4-0 win against the Mound-Westonka Whitehawks.

Hopkins was led by Austin Bizal, who grabbed one goal. Bizal scored 2:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hopkins. Ryan Davis picked up the assist.

The Royals' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Mound-Westonka power plays. The 27 shots that Hopkins put on net surpassed the Royals' average of 3.7 shots per game this season.

Hopkins additionally got points from Davis, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Jim Copouls, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Hopkins also got a goal from Trace Bolstad as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hopkins were Matt Hines, who had one.

Mound-Westonka could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Whitehawks put an average of 2.8 pucks into the net per game.

Hopkins incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mound-Westonka's Andy Seats stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Whitehawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
