Peterson leads Holy Family Catholic over Totino-Grace, 5-1

The Holy Family Catholic Fire were firing on all cylinders against the Totino-Grace Eagles, and when the final buzzer sounded Fire emerged with a 5-1 win.

Totino-Grace was stymied by Holy Family Catholic netminder Derek LaCombe, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. LaCombe certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.47 entering the contest.

The Fire kept the Eagles' goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Larson made 37 saves on 42 shots.

Holy Family Catholic was helped by Jonh Peterson, who tallied one goal and two assists. Peterson scored 7:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Holy Family Catholic. Shane Gersich provided the assist. Holy Family Catholic additionally got points from Garret Riebling, who also registered one goal and one assist, Gersich, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Ryan Swanson, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Sam Stenson also scored for Holy Family Catholic. In addition, Holy Family Catholic received assists from Joey Marooney, who had one and Dylan Woolf, who had two.

Totino-Grace's offense operated below it season average. The Eagles put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. The Fire were unable to stop Totino-Grace from sending pucks towards the net, and the Eagles eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Totino-Grace was led by Blake Vagle, who scored the team's only goal. Vagle scored 12:33 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Holy Family Catholic. Noah Vosen assisted on the tally.

Holy Family Catholic finished the contest with no penalties and went 2-for-0 with the man advantage. The Eagles avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of zero power plays.
