Gersich leads Holy Family Catholic over East Ridge, 7-2

Shane Gersich was all over the ice for the Holy Family Catholic Fire, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Holy Family Catholic's 7-2 win over the East Ridge Raptors.

Gersich beat Tyler Guck with a shot 5:11 into the second period on the power play to make the score 2-0 Holy Family Catholic. The Fire had gotten the advantage when East Ridge's Samuel Kastner was sent off for elbowing. Ryan Swanson assisted on the tally. Gersich dished an assist on Joey Marooney's goal that made the score 3-1 Holy Family Catholic at 12:23 into the second period. He then added assists on Jonh Peterson's goal at 7:49 into the third and on Peterson's goal at 12:36 into the third.

Holy Family Catholic found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Fire have scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Holy Family Catholic capitalized on the Raptors' penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage. The Fire found themselves short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

Holy Family Catholic also got points from Dylan Woolf, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Peterson, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, and Marooney, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Holy Family Catholic also got a goal from Will Garin as well. More assists for Holy Family Catholic came via Garret Riebling, who had two and Sam Stenson and Max Mork, who each chipped in one.

East Ridge could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Raptors average 4.6 goals per game. East Ridge could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Raptors were helped by Ian Penvose, who had one goal. Penvose scored 26 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-2 Holy Family Catholic. Jack Dwyer picked up the assist. Jack Greeley also scored for East Ridge. In addition, East Ridge received assists from Jacob Nickoloff and Ryan McDonough, who contributed one a piece.

Derek LaCombe recorded 22 saves for Holy Family Catholic. East Ridge's Guck stopped 21 shots out of the 28 that he faced.
