Hermantown hangs on, beats Hibbing / Chisholm 2-0

Luke Jacques scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Hermantown Hawks held off the challenges of the Hibbing / Chisholm Bluejackets in a tough 2-0 win.

Hermantown took over the lead for good with a goal by Jacques at 7:11 in the first period.

The Hawks were led by Jacques, who registered one goal.

Hermantown's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Hibbing / Chisholm power plays. The Hawks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Hermantown puts an average of 6.5 pucks into the net per game.

Hermantown also got a goal from Grant Sega as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hermantown were Jared Zeleznikar, who had one.

Hibbing / Chisholm struggled to put together a cohesive attack and finished with a mere 14 shots over the course of the game. However, the Bluejackets fired more shots in the game than the 0.6 per game they average. Hibbing / Chisholm stifled the Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bluejackets did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Hibbing / Chisholm averages 3.6 goals per game.

Hermantown's Adam Smith stopped 14 shots out of the 14 that he faced. The Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tyler Carlson rejected 13 shots on goal for the Bluejackets. Hibbing / Chisholm incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
