Hermantown rolls over International Falls, 8-1

The International Falls Broncos had trouble finding ways to stop the Hermantown Hawks, which beat Broncos, 8-1.

Hermantown got the win thanks to a great game by Scott Wasbotten, who had two goals and one assist. Wasbotten scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hermantown. The Hawks had taken the advantage when International Falls' Derek White got sent off for slashing. Christian Wasbotten assisted on the tally. Wasbotten's next tally on the power play made the score 6-0 Hermantown with 14:51 left in the second period. Ryan Kero picked up the assist.

Hermantown kept the Broncos' goalie busy throughout the game, and Wesley Gunnerson made 23 saves on 31 shots. The Hawks was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play.

Hermantown also got points from Jake Zeleznikar, who also had one goal and one assist, Bo Gronseth, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Chris Benson, who also grabbed two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, and Travis Koepke, who also registered one goal and two assists. Hermantown also got a goal from Kori Ochs as well. More assists for Hermantown came via Neal Pionk, who had two.

Hermantown's defense shut down International Falls' forwards for much of the game, and the Broncos got off only four shots during the contest.

Lucas Debenedet also scored for International Falls. Other players who recorded assists for International Falls were Erik Lassila, who had one.

Jace Thomas made three saves for the Hawks on four shots. Hermantown incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. International Falls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
