Rochester Mayo wins tough contest against Farmington, 4-3

The Rochester Mayo Spartans gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Farmington Tigers.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Max Whitney's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Rochester Mayo got the win on the strength of a great game by Nolan Edwards, who had one goal and two assists. Edwards scored 1:48 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Tommy Hanson assisted on the tally.

Rochester Mayo additionally got points from Ryan Martin, who also had one goal and one assist and Matt Rogers, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Rochester Mayo came via Tommy Fjelsted, who had one.

Farmington got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The Tigers were helped by Alex Aubrecht, who had one goal. Aubrecht scored 10:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Farmington. Corey Rudrud picked up the assist. Grant Hauswirth also scored for Farmington. In addition, Farmington received assists from Austin Krause, Tanner Grubb, and Chris Fitzgibbo, who each chipped in one.

Case Hansen rejected 19 shots on goal for the Spartans. Rochester Mayo incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Austin Krause made 21 saves for Farmington on 25 shots. The Tigers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
