Windom Area beats Fairmont 9-0 as Janssen gets hat trick

A hat trick by Travis Janssen was the highlight in Eagles' 9-0 win against the Fairmont Cardinals.

Janssen's first goal came 6:01 into the second period. He then added goals at 10:44 into the second and at 2:00 into the third.

Fairmont was unable to stop the Windom Area Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and Windom Area eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The Eagles surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Windom Area averages 4.7 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Windom Area additionally got points from Devin Neilsen, who also had one goal and one assist and Zach Bartosh, who also grabbed two goals and two assists. Windom Area also had goals scored by Zach Ignaszewski, who had one and Kyle Luhmann, who had two. In addition, Windom Area received assists from Mitchell Macek and Tyler Presthus, who contributed one a piece and Stuart Schumacher and Alex Leopold, who each chipped in two.

The Cardinals found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere eight shots against the Eagles' defense.

Ben Stubbe made eight saves for Windom Area on eight shots. The Eagles incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Colton Cunning recorded 37 saves for Fairmont. The Cardinals incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
