Fairmont downs Waseca, 5-2

Samuel Havnen registered one point to lead the Fairmont Cardinals to a 5-2 victory over the Waseca Bluejays.

In the losing effort, Waseca was led by Wyatt Krampitz, who racked up two goals. Krampitz scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Waseca. JP Eykyn provided the assist. Krampitz's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Fairmont with 10:34 left in the third period. Ben Johnson assisted on the tally.

Fairmont outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Cardinals average 2.5 goals per contest.

Fairmont also got points from Joe Nordquist, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Grant Becker, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ben Mitchell also scored for Fairmont. In addition, Fairmont received assists from Rodney Engstrom, Kalon Wilson, Matthew Lytle, and Greg Claeys, who each chipped in one.

The Bluejays forced Fairmont goalie Colton Cunning to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Cardinals' Cunning stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Fairmont finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-0 with the man advantage. Austin Stroda took the loss and made six saves before being replaced by Zac Weichert who made 14 saves. Waseca ended with no penalties and went 1-for-0 on the power play.
