McLain leads Delano/Rockford over Orono, 5-0

Behind a great game by Adam McLain, who had one goal and two assists, the Delano/Rockford Tigers defeated the Orono Spartans, 5-0.

McLain got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 10:35 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Delano/Rockford. Delano/Rockford had gotten the advantage when Orono's Will LeNeave was sent off for hooking. Eric Ylitalo provided the assist. McLain dished an assist on Brady Miller's goal that made the score 1-0 Delano/Rockford at 4:51 into the second period. He added another helper on Grant Prinsen's goal that made the score 3-0 Delano/Rockford at 16:43 into the second period.

The Spartans' five penalties came back to haunt them, as Orono let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Tigers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Delano/Rockford kept the Spartans' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Breon made 31 saves on 36 shots.

Delano/Rockford also got points from Prinsen, who also had one goal and two assists, Justin Oja, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Ylitalo, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Delano/Rockford received assists from Daniel Keranen and Jack Nelson, who each chipped in one.

Orono's offense operated below it season average. The Spartans average 3.1 goals per game.

Aaron Grangroth rejected 23 shots on goal for the Tigers. Delano/Rockford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Orono ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
