Huge game by Newgren boosts Cloquet Esko Carlton over St. Francis, 6-3

James Newgren was all over the ice for the Cloquet Esko Carlton Lumberjacks, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Cloquet Esko Carlton's 6-3 win over the St. Francis Saints.

Newgren scored at 13:37 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Cloquet Esko Carlton and again while on the power play 6:14 into the third to make the score 6-1 Cloquet Esko Carlton.

The Lumberjacks stifled St. Francis' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cloquet Esko Carlton put 44 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.3 it averages per game.

Cloquet Esko Carlton additionally got points from Weston Michaud, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Karson Kuhlman, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Nate Niemi also scored for Cloquet Esko Carlton. In addition, Cloquet Esko Carlton received assists from Ryan Lind, who had two and Drew Dincau, Kaleb Kadelbach, Beau Michaud, and Tanner Robideaux, who contributed one a piece.

The Saints were led by Zach Foesch, who had one goal. Foesch scored 8:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Francis. Justin Nielsen assisted on the tally. St. Francis also got a goal from Kyle Wagner as well. More assists for St. Francis came via Brett Aldrich and Cameron Kaehler, who each chipped in one.

The Lumberjacks' Justin Ketola stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Cloquet Esko Carlton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Darion Hanson rejected 38 shots on goal for St. Francis. The Saints incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
