Cloquet Esko Carlton downs Marshall School Duluth in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Cloquet Esko Carlton Lumberjacks' Nate Niemi scored 6:27 into overtime to beat the Marshall School Duluth Hilltoppers, 3-2 (OT).

Cloquet Esko Carlton was sparked by Niemi, who tallied one goal.

The Lumberjacks forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. Cloquet Esko Carlton surpassed its season average of 6.0 penalty minutes per game. The Lumberjacks' offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 1.2 shot per game they average.

Cloquet Esko Carlton additionally got points from James Newgren, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Karson Kuhlman, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Cloquet Esko Carlton were Beau Michaud, who had two and Tanner Robideaux and Kyle Klatt, who each chipped in one.

Marshall School Duluth was helped by Matthew Klassen, who racked up one goal. Klassen scored on the power play four seconds into the third period to make the score 1-1. Justin Ketola made 14 saves for Cloquet Esko Carlton on 16 shots. The Lumberjacks registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Alex Murray recorded 36 saves for the Hilltoppers. Marshall School Duluth incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
