Kuhlman nets hat trick, leads Cloquet Esko Carlton to 13-1 win over Cambridge/Isanti

The Cambridge/Isanti Bluejackets could not stop the Cloquet Esko Carlton Lumberjacks' Karson Kuhlman, who tallied a hat trick in a 13-1 win.

Kuhlman's first goal came 5:40 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:23 into the first and at 4:46 into the second.

Cloquet Esko Carlton gained an early advantage, leading 5-1 by the end of the first period.

The Lumberjacks managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Cloquet Esko Carlton finished below its season average of 7.0 penalty minutes per game. The Lumberjacks' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Cloquet Esko Carlton averages 6.4 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Lumberjacks were also effective in Cambridge/Isanti's zone, and came away with three goals. The 62 shots that Cloquet Esko Carlton put on net surpassed the Lumberjacks' average of 6.2 shots per game this season.

Cloquet Esko Carlton also got points from Drew Dincau, who also tallied three goals and one assist, Beau Michaud, who also had one goal and two assists, Nate Niemi, who also racked up three goals and one assist, and Weston Michaud, who also registered three goals and five assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Cloquet Esko Carlton received assists from Kaleb Kadelbach, Tanner Robideaux, Kyle Klatt, James Newgren, Dalton Johnson, Ryan Lind, and Jack Kuhlman, who contributed one a piece.

The Bluejackets avoided man-down situations, tallying one major for 15 minutes in penalty time. The total was was till above Cambridge/Isanti's average of 13.0 minutes in penalty time per game. The Bluejackets' offense operated below they season average. Cambridge/Isanti averages 4.0 goals per game. Cloquet Esko Carlton's defense shut down the Bluejackets' forwards for much of the game, and Cambridge/Isanti got off only nine shots during the contest.

The Bluejackets were led by Collin Anderson, who scored the team's only goal. Anderson scored 10:16 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Cloquet Esko Carlton. Veeti Uuttera picked up the assist.

Zack Strom recorded eight saves for the Lumberjacks. Cloquet Esko Carlton registered one goal on one power play opportunities. Frank Maslow rejected 49 shots on goal for Cambridge/Isanti. The Bluejackets registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
