Breck School holds on for 5-3 win against Delano/Rockford

The Delano/Rockford Tigers tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Breck School Mustangs would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.

Breck School made the score 5-2 on a goal by Derek Wiitala at 12:43 in the second period, and Delano/Rockford got as close as 5-3 when Justin Oja scored 12:39 into the third period.

Matt Colford had two goals and one assist to lead the Mustangs. Colford scored the first of his two goals at 16:13 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Breck School. Justin Paulson picked up the assist. Colford's next tally made the score 4-2 Breck School with 9:19 left in the second period. Dylon Eggert provided the assist.

Breck School kept the Tigers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Aaron Grangroth made 45 saves on 50 shots.

Breck School also got points from Jack O''Connor, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Wiitala, who also had one goal and one assist, and Mark Sharp, who also registered one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Breck School were Andrew Keiser, who had one.

Delano/Rockford was helped by Levi Peterson, who tallied one goal. Peterson scored 2:48 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Lars Halonen picked up the assist. Chad Oja also scored for Delano/Rockford. In addition, Delano/Rockford received assists from Hunter Hart, who had one and Adam McLain and Eric Ylitalo, who each chipped in two.

Henry Johnson made 22 saves for the Mustangs on 25 shots. Breck School incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
